The creative elements in my collection will include tailoring as the first element in the collection that will consist of a slim fitted jacket with design lines that is a modern reinvention of the menswear tuxedo while complimenting the female body. Corsetry is my second element that will be worn over a garment as a layering piece, proposing the corset as more of a modern take on the "traditional corset." My third element is fabric manipulation that will be a reoccurring feature throughout my collection shown in the way of pleating.

The silhouettes of my collection are based on the inspiration of Yves Saint Laurent's "le smoking" that deliver fitted, structured silhouettes with design lines complimenting the female figure. The range main fabrication must consist of pinstripe suiting, soft sheer fabrics such as organza, wool and cotton, as it is the fabrication elements that are inspired by Yves Saint Laurent. My undergarments will consist of sheer fitted silhouettes; the reason behind this design concept is showing the sex appeal women have naturally, thus the feminine aspect. Yves Saint Laurent used sheer transparent fabrics to show the feminine figure in his designs. (Musee Yves Saint Laurent Paris, n.d) In 1968, Saint Laurent designed the most emblematic designs using sheer fabrics to embrace the female body. (Musee Yves Saint Laurent Paris, n.d) stated Yves Saint Laurent said himself “Nothing is more beautiful than a naked body." His use of sheer fabrics exposing the chests of women was iconic and supported his inspiration of empowering women. All of these design elements match my target market of the modern women.
