During the semester I have found it slightly difficult at times, which is the normality of university I suppose. Some days you stress , the next your cool calm and collected. In this blog post I will reflect and evaluate my performance throughout my design process and production.

My strengths throughout this semester have been my ability to design garments that reflect my design identity and design aesthetic for the range Modern. Other strength’s this semester have been:

*Using my time efficiently as best as I could.

*Listening to other’s advice about what I could do better with Modern

*Creativity behind my blog/Website (web Design)

My weakness that I have been able to identify throughout the semester have been:

*At times struggling to problem solve difficult pattern making techniques

*Sewing

These two points, are my weaknesses throughout the semester, as a designer you always will have strengths and weaknesses, yet the weaknesses and strengths allow you to learn and grow, being able to accept and identify those the firsts step to learning how to over come your weakness and continue to strengthen your strengths. A way to improve my performance is to continuously practice, i do not believe in perfection, but practise strengthens your weakness and is a great way to keep learning, as a visual person i like to see how someone has problem solved a pattern or have sewn a pattern a certain way which will allow me to learn and be able to memorise better.

The nature of design is beautiful, everyone has a different ways they design, think, produce and interoperate. The nature of design can be change, i have learnt throughout the semester that the nature of design can come and go, thoughts change, ideas evolve, its unpredictable. what you thought you wanted to create can change, and it is all part of the process.

throughout the design process i had to make some rational decisions such as changing a few of my designs this also lead to a delay in production, yet was for the better, some toiles where not quite right and didn't mesh well with the range as i thought so had to make a few changes.

The creative process i under took and engaged with whilst undertaking the linear framework where to define silhouettes, putting clothes on the mannequin and identifying how they tailored the garments and how they where fitted, a lot of toiling and sewing to see how garments are fitted

the creative process all influenced all my process, from researching designers, to the designers inspiration to silhouettes to trends to toiling and construction.

the research techniques i have used is obviously the internet, as we all use as a main source nowadays to gain information on whatever we desire. Book as well, this has been another form of research. i am a visual person so when making my toiles i could see if something wouldn't work or it could work in my range, so this is another technique i used for my research. Trend forecasting was another technique to too the latest insights and what would sell in the industry.

technology is a big thing in research nowadays. The internet was a big form of research, i could search anything from a word to a sentence and i was bale to navigate and find so many journals, articles,, blogs and pictures which really inspired me.
